Teaching sequence

New Technologies


pre- task

Students will read a text on NEW TECHNOLOGIES and how they modify our daily lives


task 1

Using WORDLE make a word cloud including vocabulary connected to the text. Then socialize your ideas with the rest of the class. The teacher will be the mediator so everyone can say aloud the words chosen.


task 2

Look up images connected to new technologies using FLICKR. With PHOTOVISI make a picture collage.
Having seen all the collages, teacher will ask students questions on the different devices trying to find out if they really know them, if they have any of them and the use they give those devices.


task 3

Choose a device (cell phone, notebook, netbook, mp3) and write a short description about it. What is it like? What do you use it for?


task 4


Now write an instruction leaflet about the device you chose! Give advantages and disadvantages.


task 5

Make a video using MOVIE MAKER to show the evolution of the equipments. You can use FLICKR again. Share the video with your classmates.

    be careful bec the use of ICT seems to make you lose track of the objective of the class>>>I mean, I'm afraid you are leaving your ss all alone, and including too many ICT tools.
    Task 1: only words? where are they going to take the vocab from?
    Task 2: how are you going to exploit the
    Tasks 3 & 4: if yu have been working at the world level, how do you expect to go to the textual level? pictures, how are you ging to turn that collage into use of Englsih? What is the purpose behind this task?Mind you, there are 2 different genres included.
    In geeneral I see little scaffolding. Steps of each class? Timing? Pretask/enabling tasks?
    PLEASE DO NOT DLETE ANYTHING, make the necessary corrections on NEW ENTRY.
